Man charged with arson, uttering threats following Regina house fire

The Regina Police Service says a 19-year-old man from McLean, Sask. is facing multiple charges following a house fire early Sunday morning.

RPS officers were dispatched to two locations at around 6:25 a.m. At one location, police found a woman who indicated she was receiving messages from someone she knows containing threats to herself and others. The threats also discussed damage to her property and the property of others.

At the same time, other units were sent to the 1400 block of York Street where a house was damaged by fire. No occupants were in the house at the time.

The investigation led to the arrest of 19-year-old Keenan Bailey Longman. Police say these events were not random and do not pose an increased risk to the public.

Longman has been charged with arson and uttering threats among other offences. He appeared in provincial court on Monday morning.
