Farmers in Saskatchewan are disappointed Ottawa has closed the door on a rebate on carbon tax for drying grain from last fall’s harvest.

Agriculture minister Marie-Claude Bibeau says the carbon tax on grain drying was not significant.

But APAS president Todd Lewis says it cost thousands of dollars for many farmers.

For some farmers, he says the cost was tens of thousands of dollars and vows to continue to push for a rebate.

An APAS study found the average 5 thousand acre farm would pay an additional $8,000 TO $10,000 for grain drying, rail transportation, heating and electricity from the carbon tax.
