This morning I woke up at around 1:30 thanks to a bladder that was telling me it needed to be emptied. I really didn’t feel like getting out of bed, so I started mentally asking myself the usual questions that arise in that situation. Do I really need to go? I have to be up in an hour anyway, can I hold it that long?
I must have fallen back asleep because the next thing I knew the cat woke me up with his constant meowing at about 2:20. I thought to myself, “Great. I can lie in bed for another 10 minutes before getting up!” Then I was reminded why I woke up an hour earlier. Now I really had to go to the bathroom. Between the cat and my bladder, I couldn’t take it anymore. I definitely wasn’t going to get that last peaceful 10 minutes in bed.
As I made my way to the bathroom I tripped over the cat who was sitting right outside the bedroom door as if it was telling me, “Hey, I’ve been meowing out here in the hallway for the last 15 minute for a reason. Don’t you get it? I’m hungry.” I told the cat I’d meet him in the kitchen in a few minutes, I had business to take care of.
That didn’t matter to him. He followed me into the bathroom and sat there watching me standing at the toilet doing my business, still meowing like there was no tomorrow. Really? I asked the cat, “Do you ever see me on my hands and knees outside your litter box watching you go to the bathroom?” Sheesh.
After taking a very refreshing tinkle and getting bowlful of cat food for a very hungry cat, I made my way into the shower to start my day.
Although I have two alarm clocks in our bedroom, there are some days I don’t need either of them!
