Nine new COVID-19 cases being reported in Saskatchewan with majority of those in Far North

The province says they are dealing with nine new cases of COVID-19 bringing the provincial total to 693.

Seven of the nine cases are coming from the Far North region with the other two in Saskatoon.  It is not known if the cases in the Far North are related to a wake and funeral held on the Clearwater Dene First Nation earlier this month.  On Monday, 18 new cases were recorded with provincial chief medical health officer Dr. Saqib Shahab saying many of those could be attributed to those gatherings.

There have been two more recoveries putting the provincial total at 633 with 47 cases still considered active.   42 of those 47 cases are in the Far North and Saskatoon regions.

Two people remain in hospital with both of those individuals in Saskatoon.

The province says 57,217 tests have now been performed.
