Prairie Dog Drive-in near Carlyle hosting virtual Garth Brooks concert June 27

Garth Brooks is coming back to Saskatchewan on June 27th, but not in a way you’d expect.

A pre-recorded concert is being played at drive-in movie theatres across North America, with Prairie Dog Drive-in outside of Carlyle being one of them.

Owner and operator Ray Boutin said no limousines, party buses or RV’s would be allowed for their showing of the concert.

“Vehicle’s got to be SUV, truck or car,” Boutin said. “You can only have the same amount of people as there are seat-belts (in your vehicle).”

Boutin said while Garth won’t actually be in Carlyle, it will still be a great experience for those who come out. The gates will open at 8:30 that night.

“People have to adhere to social distancing, we allow certain space between vehicles, and we ask people remain in their vehicles,” Boutin said. “We’re very strict about adhering to the COVID rules, so we’re going to be enforcing and patrolling for good behaviour of course.”

The Wolseley Twilite Drive-in will also be showing the concert. Tickets for the show will cost $100 U.S. per vehicle.
