MLB and players agree on 60 game schedule to start July 23rd or 24th

After appearing to be miles apart late last week, it looks as if the MLB and its players have reached an agreement to start a season in late July.

The two sides have agreed to a 60 game schedule, with training camps opening July 1st.

With border restrictions still in place between Canada and the U.S. Toronto Blue Jays players are expected to report to the teams spring training facility in Dunedin, Florida, where they may play the whole season.

The schedule will be the MLB’s shortest since 1878, and will be based on regional alignment.

Each team will face its divisional opponents 40 times, and then play 20 “interleague” games.

A trade deadline is expected to be August 31st, teams will also be allowed 30 man rosters for the first two weeks of the regular season.

Opening day will take place July 23rd or 24th.
