Wide views expressed in Sask legislature on state of the economy

The Saskatchewan legislature heard wide-ranging views on the provincial economy during the COVID-19 outbreak.

NDP critic Trent Wotherspoon says SaskParty mismanagement has led to a significant economic downturn.

He accuses the SaskParty government of failing to provide information on the true state of the economy.

However, Trade and Export Development minister Jeremy Harrison says Saskatchewan has the second lowest unemployment level in Canada with an increase in wholesale trade during the pandemic.

Harrison says Saskatchewan businesses have delivered the best economic performance of any jurisdiction in Canada.

He says the province is well positioned for economic recovery from COVID-19.
