It was another night of dangerous weather for parts of southern Saskatchewan on Saturday.

Environment Canada says they have confirmed that two tornadoes touched down, with the possibility of a third.

One near the Glenbain area west of Assiniboia was on the ground for about 40 minutes, beginning sometime between 4:00 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.

A second touchdown south of Assiniboia lasted for up to 20 minutes.

Meteorologist Mark Melsness says on top of that, very large hail was also recorded.

“Huge hail the size of softballs was seen southwest of Glenbain, and again numerous reports of ping-pong and golf ball sized hail as well.”

Melsness says throughout the day on Sunday they expect to hear where damage was done.

“I’ve seen one picture showing a house that looked like it suffered considerable damage, another picture showed a grain bin well away from where it started, it was all crumpled up and destroyed, I’m not sure how far that one was tossed,” he said.

Saskatchewan appears to be off the hook on Sunday, with Melsness saying they expect most of the severe weather to be in Manitoba.
