Regina man charged in connection to string of 2016 robberies

A 35-year-old man is facing several charges related to a series of robberies that happened in 2016.

On October 16th, 2016, at approximately 11:50 pm, masked suspects, one with a firearm, entered a restaurant on the 400 block of Broad Street North and demanded cash.

On November 11th, around 1:22 pm, masked suspects, both with firearms, entered a restaurant on the 1300 block of Broadway Avenue and escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash.

On November 14th, at 11:38 pm, masked suspects robbed a business on the 200 block of Albert Street North, and once again robbed a business on the 1100 block of University Park East on December 11th.

The business robbed on the 400 block of Broad Street North was again robbed on December 22nd.

As a result of a continued investigation into these incidents, a man was arrested on July 9th, 2020. At the time of his arrest, he was in possession of identity documents belonging to another person.

 35-year-old Ryan Neil Matechuk has been charged with 5 counts of armed robbery using a firearm, 5 counts of wearing a disguise with intent to commit an indictable offence, and identity fraud.
