Taser used to arrest suspect in Victoria Avenue break and enter

Regina Police had to deploy a taser in order to take in a suspect in a violent break and enter in the city’s east end.

Police became aware of the break-in over the noon hour on Monday, where a man broke into the business, stole money and other merchandise and caused extensive damage to the building. Staff reportedly fled the scene, saying the man appeared to be under the influence of either drugs or alcohol while acting violent towards staff.

Police arrived at the scene, causing the suspect to flee, but stay a short distance away, the suspect became violent towards officers, which caused police to deploy the taser to take the suspect into custody safely. No one was injured in the incident.

32 year-old Joseph McKay faces six charges, including carrying a concealed weapon, mischief under five thousand dollars, and assaulting a police officer.
