Regina Food Bank gifted forklift to help meet increased demand

The Regina Food Bank was the recipient of a new forklift, thanks to Superior Forklift.

CEO of the Regina Food Bank John Bailey, says the forklift will allow them to move more food more quickly, which has been a challenge during the pandemic.

He adds that there has been a lot of pressure on the food bank to keep up with demand.

“In June, we’re up almost 2X what we would’ve been last June, well over 11,000 people being served by the Regina Food Bank,” said Bailey. “Because of that the pressure is incredible on our staff to get stuff out, so community partners, like Superior Forklift, are a god-send for us to make sure that we can get our work done.”

President of Superior Forklift Brian Weisbrod says the decision to help out the food bank, was an easy one.

“We’re very community minded, and to us, we’re very honoured to be able to present a forklift, to be able to help people in the community,” said Weisbrod. “The Food Bank was in need of one, so we wanted to step up and see if we could help.”

Bailey says the partnership between the Regina Food Bank and Superior Forklift is an exciting one.

“We love having amazing community partners like Superior Forklift, and we’d like to see where it goes, in terms of continuing to make upgrades that make our work more effective, because every minute we save our staff team, is another minute we can dedicate to making sure we’re solving issues and getting people food,” said Bailey. “We’re very interested to see where this partnership will go, and we’re excited for the future.”
