Saskatchewan RCMP investigators are still on the lookout for three individuals involved in a multi-million-dollar online romance scam.
Members of the Saskatchewan Federal Serious and Organized Crime Unit determined that the scammers stole over $360,000 over a two-year period while victimizing seven women. The victims told investigators they have collectively lost over $2 million during the course of their relationships.
Five people have been accused of being a part of the group of scammers, however two of the suspects are already in custody.
Saskatchewan RCMP arrested 28-year-old Austin Newton on January 15 at CBSA in Edmonton, in connection to the investigation. In April, the RCMP asked for information regarding the whereabouts of the remaining suspects from the investigation. On April 23, 25-year-old Kelvin Awani turned himself in to police.
Investigators are now hoping to track down 23-year-old Jonah Eigbuluese, 27-year-old Clinton Newton and 25-year-old Joshua Ometie.
Anyone with information is asked to call the RCMP, their local police service or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers.
