Provincial government meets with Tristen Durocher while ‘Walking with our Angels’ protest continues

A meeting has been had between rural and remote health minister Warren Kaeding, Northern Affairs minister Lori Carr, and advocate for suicide prevention Tristen Durocher.

In a joint statement, the ministers say they appreciate Durocher’s advocacy on this issue and welcomed the opportunity to further a conversation on this issue.

Durocher walked over 600 kilometres from La Ronge to the Saskatchewan legislature in Regina to bring awareness to the suicide issue, particularly in northern Saskatchewan, and has been staying in Wascana Park across the street from the Legislature during his protest.

The province says they are continuing to implement their Pillars for Life Suicide prevention plan across the province, adding they are working with the FSIN, Metis Nation Saskatchewan, northern leaders and frontline workers to prevent suicide in communities across the province.
