18 year member of Regina Police is let go

Regina police have fired one of their own.

The department announced Corporal Colin Magee, who spent almost 18 years with the service, has been dismissed after a series of assault allegations.

In July of 2017, Magee had an assault allegation withdrawn after the case went through mediation, but two more charges of assault were issued last year after incidents in the detention cells. Magee pleaded guilty to one of those assaults against a 13 year old boy and was given a conditional discharge while he was found not guilty in the other case involving a 42 year old man.

Police Chief Evan Bray has determined Magee is unsuitable for police service under the Police Act. Magee has 30 days to appeal.
