Regina Police recover weapons after call forces closure of multiple roads including Lewvan Drive

Regina Police say what started as a call to assist a citizen, turned into a weapons investigation and the closure of the 4700 bock of 4th Avenue, as well as parts or Royal Street and Lewvan Drive for much of the day Thursday.

Shortly before 8:00 a.m. officers arrived at an apartment in the area and learned that a man inside was threatening to harm himself and police.

A section of 4th Avenue, Royal Street and Lewvan Drive was closed to vehicles and pedestrians.

After some time police learned the man inside the building had actually left before officers arrived on scene.

A description of the suspect was not provided.

Inside a search warrant found four replica firearms, a shotgun, various ammunition and a large sword.

Police are continuing to investigate into the matter and are asking anyone with more information to contact them or Crime Stoppers.

All road closures were lifted by around 2:00 p.m.

A woman was arrested on the scene for unrelated matters.
