Crop production in southeast Sask. could reach 20 percent above average

Harvest is underway in the southeast with farmers expected to combine an above average crop this year.

The crop extension specialist in Weyburn, Sherri Roberts, says beneficial rain could result in crop production as much as 20 percent above normal this summer.

The provincial crop extension specialist in Swift Current, Shannon Chant, is forecasting a wide range of yields in southwest Saskatchewan due to crop diseases and sporadic moisture.

Harvest in the south is estimated at around the one percent mark.
