RCMP seize fentanyl pills that add up to over 76,000 doses near Swift Current

RCMP say a 30-year-old Manitoba man has been charged after a traffic stop on Highway 1 near Waldeck ended up the the seizure of meth and fentanyl.

Just before 2:00 a.m. Saturday morning police pulled over a SUV that was heading east.

During the course of the traffic stop a equipment violation turned into a drug trafficking and possession investigation based on several factors that RCMP say will be presented in court.

A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of two vacuum sealed bags of methamphetamine weighing just under 18 lbs, five vacuum sealed bags of fentanyl weighing about 12 lbs, which police say is equal to about 76,160 single doses as well as $1,140 in Canadian currency.

Thirty-year-old Geoffrey John Vincent from St. Andrews Manitoba, has been charged with possession of meth for the purpose of trafficking, possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking and possession of currency obtained by crime.

Vincint appeared in a Swift Current courtroom on Tuesday.
