Regina police charge man involved in northwest Regina robberies in July

Regina police have laid charges regarding two robberies and a theft that happened in the Rosemont and Normanview West neighbourhoods on July 1.

The timeline began at 8:42 p.m. when officers were sent to the 300 block of McCarthy Boulevard for a report of a man who demanded personal items from a 15-year-old girl. He threatened her by lifting the hem of his shirt and showing a firearm.

Not too long after the inaugural incident, a bike was stolen from a rack outside a business on the 300 block of McCarthy Boulevard. The suspect jumped out a truck, cut the lock on the bike with bolt cutters and rode the bike eastbound on 7th Avenue North.

At 9:04 p.m., a 16-year-old girl reported her bike was taken from a man who showed he had a gun. The suspect left the area of 4th Avenue and McIntosh Street with the stolen bicycle.

An investigation into these events led police to identifying the suspect. He was already in custody on unrelated matters during his arrest.

22-year-old Jeremy Austin Lee Hastings of Regina has been charged with two counts of robbery and theft under $5,000. He made his first court appearance on Wednesday morning.
