Death of attempted murder victim results in Regina’s ninth homicide of 2020

The victim of an attempted murder on August 1 has died in hospital from his injuries, making his death Regina’s ninth homicide of 2020.

The investigation began on Saturday, August 1 when police were sent to Krauss Street for a firearms offence. Police and paramedics located 30-year-old Earl Francis Dufour of Lebret, Sask. with an apparent gunshot wound. He was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The Regina Police Service recovered a vehicle believed to have been involved in the incident, resulting in the identification of viable suspects.

On August 2, police carried out an operation at a residence on Wolfe Place which included SWAT and K9 teams; it lead to the arrests of 22-year-old Dominick Mark Cochrane and 23-year-old Angelica Violet Taypotat, who are both from Regina.

The suspects were charged with attempted murder and made their first court appearance on August 4.

On August 15, RPS was notified that Dufour passed away in hospital. The case has now changed to a homicide investigation, and both Cochrane and Taypotat are facing first degree murder charges.

They will be in court on their new charges Monday afternoon.
