Heat records shattered across Saskatchewan

A hot day Tuesday led to 13 new heat records being set across Saskatchewan.

Environment Canada says Regina, Saskatoon, Moose Jaw, and Weyburn were among the communities that broke records.

Meteorologist Dave Carlsen says people can expect more of the same Wednesday.

“Mid-30’s are forecast for pretty much all of southern Saskatchewan (Wednesday), so stay hydrated, keep out of the sun as much as possible to keep yourself cool,” Carlsen said. “It’s going to be a very hot one, that’s for sure.”

Heat warnings remain in effect for much of Saskatchewan on Wednesday.

Carlsen says temperatures are expected to cool down later this week.

“It looks like by the week’s end, we’re going to be cooling off a little bit, and I say ‘cooling off’ meaning we’re going to shave a few degrees off,” Carlsen said. “We’re still going to be in the upper-20’s and around 30 degrees until the beginning of next work week.

“It’s still going to be warm, but not quite as hot as we’ll see (Wednesday).”
