Heat Warnings continue for central and southern Sask. on Thursday after another record breaking Wednesday

It’s going to be another hot one across most of central and southern Saskatchewan on Thursday.

Environment Canada continues to have Heat Warnings in effect for central and southern portions of the province, including Regina, Moose Jaw and Saskatoon.

Regina is expecting a high of 34 on Thursday while Moose Jaw is expected to reach 35.

Once again more than a handful of records were broken on Wednesday.

Regina climbed to 36.9 beating out the old record of 36.1 set back in 1933.

Broadview reached 34.8 beating out 33.9, Estevan got to 37.4 (35.8), Indian Head 37 (36.7), Last Mountain 35.8 (33.9), Moose Jaw 36.4 (36) and Weyburn reached 38 (35.6), Wynyard hit 33.9 (32.6).

Meteorologist Mark Melsness says because the air is relatively dry severe thunderstorm activity has been kept to a minimum.

He added that northern Saskatchewan is seeing cooler weather move in on Thursday, with Regina and Moose Jaw seeing a slight drop in temperatures Friday and into the weekend, however he added it will still be above normal for this time of year.

Regina’s average daytime high right now is about 25.
