Nine-year-old boy in critical condition after being pulled from Pike Lake

A 9-year-old boy was taken to hospital in critical condition late Tuesday afternoon after nearly drowning in Pike Lake.

The Saskatoon Fire Department got the call a few minutes after 4 :00 p.m. that a child was missing near the water.

Water rescue arrived to find police and ambulance working to revive the unresponsive boy on the shoreline.

Firefighter paramedics assisted in CPR as STARS Air Ambulance flew him to a Saskatoon hospital at 4:53 p.m. in critical condition.

The Saskatoon Fire Department says it was a collaborative response from Medavie Health Services, the RCMP, STARS Air Ambulance, Delisle and District Fire Department and the Saskatchewan Provincial Parks staff.

Pike Lake is about 36 kilometres south of Saskatoon.
