Life in the bubble hasn’t been bad for the New York Islanders.
The Islanders will go into Tuesday night’s game against the Philadelphia Flyers looking to take their second-round matchup in five games and become one of the NHL’s final four teams in what has been a unique playoffs.
One of many players contributing for the Islanders is Regina’s Jordan Eberle. The former Pat says there are a lot of factors to consider when it comes to his team’s success, with goaltending being one of them.
“We have faith in both of them (Semyon Varlamov and Thomas Greiss) to get the job done.” Eberle told 620 CKRM’s Michael Ball on Monday’s Sportscage. “So many times you have seen over the years that two goalies are needed to be successful and that is definitely the case with our team this year. It doesn’t matter who starts, we have faith in them.”
Eberle, who has eight points in 13 games for the Islanders during the playoffs, says this year’s playoffs while strange in nature has been beneficial when it comes to travel or lack of it.
“It’s been easier without the travel. The biggest thing about travel is your sleep cycles are off because you are getting into hotels late and then you have an early practice so it’s hard to get a rhythm going. ‘Eberle said. “Here, we are in a routine and it isn’t as problematic.”
Eberle admits the playoff run has been fun for him. While the team is only halfways to its goal, there is a sense of excitement at being one of the final four teams to be in the battle for the Stanley Cup which is a place he has never been too during his NHL career.
