NDP needs new candidate in Regina Walsh Acres

The Saskatchewan New Democrats aren’t saying why, but a new candidate is needed for the riding of Regina Walsh Acres in the upcoming provincial election after the person first nominated is not receiving the endorsement of leader Ryan Meili.

Sandra Morin was first nominated for the seat in May 2019, but her name has disappeared from the party’s website.

Barb Dedi is the president of the constituency association and has told people Morin has not stepped down, and that the reason for this move is because of Meili.

Morin does not know why Meili will not endorse her and that it remains  her intention to run.

Regina Walsh Acres does not have an incumbent MLA as Warren Steinley stepped down to enter federal politics. Steinley defeated Morin to take the seat in 2011.  Morin had held the seat from 2003 until being defeated by Steinley. She served as a cabinet minister under then-Premier Lorne Calvert.
