The Saskatchewan NDP is calling for a strategy to deal with the rising number of overdoses in the province.
They are asking for the government to address community safety and the increase of opioids and crystal meth addictions in Saskatchewan.
In the past two months, the overdose death toll in Regina has nearly doubled, from 33 to 63. That is a large increase from 2019’s total of 21.
Regina Police have responded to 712 overdoses so far in 2020, compared to 82 in all of 2019.
The NDP is blaming the rise on numbers on what they say is a “failed approach” taken by the Sask. Party.
