STF cautious but excited to get back to school

For the first time since mid-March, kids head back to school this morning.

The province and its various school divisions have developed a plan which they believe will be successful as efforts to fight the COVID-19 pandemic continue.

For teachers, they come back with some anxiety, but Saskatchewan Teachers Federation president Patrick Maze says they come back with excitement as well as they greet students again.

“It’s important to get back to that face to face connection with students,” said Maze. “Albeit probably masked or with some precautions, but at the same point, being able to see students again and check in on them and know that they’re doing well.”

Maze says in some cases, a reconnection is needed because of the time that they have been away from students.
