Small fire at Pattison Children’s Hospital in Saskatoon

A man is recovering after suffering burns to about 25 percent of his upper body following a small explosion and fire at the Jim Pattison’s Childrens Hospital in Saskatoon early this morning.

Saskatoon Fire say they received the call around 2 a.m saying something had happened at the adult emergency department.

An investigation showed the man was attempting to smoke while receiving oxygen which is what caused the small explosion which also caused about $1,000 damage.

Upon arrival, firefighters learned hospital security had partially extinguished the fire using an on-site fire extinguisher.
