Impasse in negotiations declared by union representing workers at Saskatchewan Cancer Agency

Workers at the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency represented by SGEU are asking for a Labour Relations Officer to step in and assist with a satisfactory agreement as efforts to reach a new contract are not going anywhere.

The workers say they are doing so because an impasse has been reached and that while progress has been made on negotiations, the government will not budge on what they say are the final two items on the table which they find to be frustrating and disappointing.

The issues are supplemental employment benefits and having the employer move a percentage of their contribution from the current benefits plan and reallocate it towards the pension plan,

Approximately 700 workers at the agency have been without a contract since April 2018. The union is looking for a six-year-deal.
