WestJet works to include Saskatchewan in free COVID-19 insurance

Saskatchewan residents were upset with Westjet after learning of a new COVID-19 insurance policy that had been put into place which excluded Saskatchewan. However that problem has since been rectified.

The airline, in an e-mail, says you can now fly with Westjet out of Saskatchewan with free COVID-19 insurance.

The e-mail states WestJet has worked with its provider, TuGo, and Saskatchewan insurance regulators to ensure residents of Saskatchewan are included in the coverage.

The insurance, which is for trips starting Friday and running through August 31, 2021, is for international travel. It does not include the United States.

The province’s regulatory requirements were the reason for the snag.

Air Canada had said the same thing, but they have also announced Saskatchewan residents are now eligible.
