Terry Fox Run going virtual Sunday

Like many other events this year, the 2020 Terry Fox Run is going virtual Sunday thanks to COVID-19.

This year marks 40 years since Fox’s marathon of hope to raise money for cancer research.

In Saskatchewan 30 communities will be participating.

Regina run organizer Colin Kuntz says with this year’s event going virtual a greater demographic of people can be reached.

“People are planning on going dancing in their living room, some people are planning on walking around the block, some people are still planning to go out to their favourite trail and doing a hike,” said Kuntz. “Whatever they want to do on that day, it doesn’t matter, just as long as a person gets registered, tries to do some fundraising for the event, and really take the time to honour Terry and many loved ones who have passed.”

Since Fox’s marathon of hope 40 years ago, more than 750-million-dollars has been raised around the world for cancer research in Terry’s name.
