Two Reginans face weapons-related charges after incidents just blocks away in north-Central Regina

Regina police have charged two men with a number of weapon-related charges after two separate incidents on Sunday.

In the first incident, a 49-year-old man was arrested on the 1100 block of Garnet Street, in north central Regina,  after police saw him in a vehicle reported to be stolen on the 1400 block of Rae Street around 5:15 Sunday afternoon.

A search of the man after he was arrested resulted in a backpack being found inside the vehicle.  That backpack allegedly contained numerous guns and ammunition.

Jason Henderson made a court appearance on the matter Monday.

The second incident happened around Athol Street and 5th Avenue, just a few blocks away, a short time later.

Police say around 5:30 Sunday afternoon, an officer saw a man riding a bike that matched the description of one that had been stolen a few days earlier.  When he was stopped a few blocks later, officers say they saw what looked like a handgun inside his backpack and a hunting knife that he was allegedly carrying.

A subsequent search resulted in a number of knives, a pellet-gun with a magazine, a magazine for a .22-calibre gun and drugs being found.

31-year-old Joseph Acoose also appeared in court on Monday to face the variety of charges issued against him
