Saskatchewan Hockey Association believes a return date is close

If all goes well, the general manager of the Saskatchewan Hockey Association is hoping games will be played at rinks throughout Saskatchewan by Christmas.

Kelly McClintock says his organization and the government have finally gotten around to working together to enact a plan that will see hockey played.

“We received a 20 page document from the government’s Business Response team about what is needed and it certainly is doable.” McClintock said. “The biggest challenge is to make sure the operators of the various arenas are properly prepared when it comes to things like cleaning, mask usage and crowd size.  Leagues like the SJHL and WHL will have to do a little more like having a responsible plan for traffic flows and things like that.  We are very optimistic though that we can get the green light soon.”

McClintock says one thing they will also have to do is make sure the government knows how much various leagues will be minimizing travel.

As far as the games themselves go, McClintock says there won’t be any changes with those changes happening off the ice to ensure the safety of all involved.
