More information on “serious safety incident” in Weyburn that resulted in two deaths released

Information on yesterday’s tragic accident in Weyburn that killed a pair of SaskPower workers continues to trickle in.

A 51-year-old man and a 40-year old man were killed after they apparently fell out of the bucket they were in while working on some power lines near Government Road and 6th Avenue Southeast just after 3.

Deputy police chief Rod Stafford can’t say what caused the men to fall out of the bucket and that they are working with SaskPower, Occupational Safety and Health and the Coroner’s Office to determine what happened.

Names of the two have not been released, but both were apparently from Weyburn.

Flags at SaskPower facilities across the province have been at half-mast today to pay tribute to the two.
