The coronavirus creates challenges for annual Sask. Stock Growers meeting

COVID-19 has created some challenges for the annual meeting of the Saskatchewan Stock Growers Association.

Manager Chad McPherson says the meeting will be held Wednesday afternoon over the internet.

The meeting usually is held for a couple days but this year its a one-day virtual meeting with about 100 registrants.

He says there will be one main speaker from the Canadian Cattlemen’s Association discussing trade and other issues.

McPherson says prices are fairly stable right now but coronavirus outbreaks at Meatpacking plants this spring caused some disruptions in the marketplace.

Resolutions deal with continued access to strychnine poison, limiting meat terminology for meatless products, and concern about location of wildlife snares that trap working cow dogs.

McPherson says cattle prices are down from last year but still reasonably good.
