Regina to stage just one Remembrance Day Ceremony instead of two

Regina usually has two Remembrance Day Ceremonies, but the one at the Brandt Centre is being cancelled this year because of COVID-19.

While that one won’t go ahead, the ceremony at the Cenotaph in Victoria Park will continue, with 150 in attendance to oblige with health guidelines.

Ron Hitchcock with the Regina Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion says our veterans need to be honored and COVID-19 will not stop that.

“People still need to remember that even at a time like this where COVID is with us, that the freedom we enjoy is because of the sacrifice of many,” Hitchcock said.  “We need to look after them and honour them.”

Access Communications will do a live broadcast from the Cenotaph live.  Access has usually done the ceremony from the Brandt Centre.
