Man charged after threatening Regina Police and himself with a weapon

Regina Police say they were forced to taser a 22-year-old man Wednesday afternoon, after he threatened officers and himself with a knife.

Shortly after 5:00 p.m. police were called to Prince of Wales Drive where the intoxicated man was seen stumbling through parking lots.

When police tried to assist the man he attempted to strike and officer and then continued to swing a knife in their direction.

When a second officer arrived on the scene the man turned the knife on himself, which was when officers deployed a taser and took the man into custody without further incident.

Twenty-two-year-old Edward Ross from Saskatoon, has been charged with Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose and Assaulting a Police Officer with a Weapon.

Ross will make his first court appearance Thursday morning.
