Regina Food Bank says response to “Million Dollar Meal Challenge” has been inspiring

The Regina Food Bank says with its Million Dollar Meal Challenge getting close to wrap-up, they are at the three-quarters mark with full confidence their goal will be met.

A big reason for that optimism is a recent large donation by Avana Homes as they have come through with 100,000 meals while Roots Kitchen and Bar have teamed up with several other businesses for four silent auction packages with the goal being to donate over 6.000 meals.

David Froh with the Food Bank says that while these two donations are the latest to be publicly recognized, there are many others that need to be saluted as well for coming through.

“Many businesses have made quiet donations without acknowledgement and they need to be thanked.” Froh said. “It isn’t every day you see 100,000 meals being donated so we are very grateful to Avana and to the others likes Roots that have gotten creative.  It just shows again how Regina never turns its back at a time of need.”

The Regina Food Bank needs to feed 13,000 people a month, 40 percent of which are children.  It is double the need from this time last year with most of that increase attributed to COVID-19.
