The next few hours won’t be the greatest weather-wise.
Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the southern half of the province as a fast moving clipper system crossing the prairies will bring gusty winds to southern Saskatchewan through Saturday. Increasing southerlies today will switch to strong northwesterly winds gusting 80 km/h tonight continuing into Saturday. The southeastern corner of the province is expected to receive the strongest winds with additional wind warnings possibly being declared as the system develops. Winds will gradually diminish from west to east throughout Saturday, with most areas returning to light winds by Saturday evening.
There are also wind warnings out in the southeast corner of the province with snowfall warnings in place for the northern part of the province including Melfort, Tisdale, Nipawin, Hudson Bay, Prince Albert and La Ronge with the weather office saying snowfall amounts of 10 to 20 centimetres are expected.
Those travelling Friday night and Saturday should check the Highway Hotline first to see what conditions roads are in and what challenges you may face.
