Regina remains under winter storm warning; other parts of SK under snowfall warning

Saskatchewan continues to await what will be a nasty few hours as a winter storm approaches with some places already to starting to see conditions deteriorate.

Winter storm warnings and snowfall warnings are out for a large chunk of the province with the worst coming on Sunday.

Environment Canada says a blizzard warning has already been put out for the southwest corner of the province as a  powerful low pressure system will begin impacting the area Saturday night. Snow, very heavy at times, will begin late in the evening and continue through to Monday morning. Total amounts of 30 to 50 cm are expected. The onset of strong northerly winds tonight along with the heavy snow will result in blizzard conditions developing by Sunday morning.

In Regina, the weather office says freezing rain will come down before the heavy snow arrives with 30 to 50 centimeters expected.

Details in timing and intensity are likely to shift somewhat as the event approaches. Please stay alert for further bulletins and check your public forecast for additional details.
