BASF Canada opens new 14 million dollar crop protection production facility in Regina

BASF Canada opened its new 14 million dollar formulation and packaging facility in Regina Wednesday.

The crop protection production facility is the division’s single biggest agriculture infrastructure investment in the last decade.

The Regina facility is expected to produce over half of BASF Canada’s crop protection products, ensuring farmers across the country and the northern U.S. will have access to the products when needed.

The facility will produce more than 30 million litres of agricultural solutions each year.

The upgrades include a 300 thousand litre stainless steel tank and enhanced control and safety measures.

Viper, one of the most important herbicides for field peas, is among the first solutions to be produced this fall at the Regina facility.

During the peak production period, from fall to early spring, the facility will employ about 130 people.
