Highways ministry postpones winter weight season in Sask

More mild weather this fall has caused the Saskatchewan highways ministry to postpone winter weight season on all relevant secondary highways.

Normally, winter weights are in effect from November 16th to about March 14th.

Colder temperatures during the winter months help freeze and strengthen roads, as a result more weight can be transported on provincial highways without causing any damage.

Commercial truckers are encouraged to check the status this season regularly with the highways ministry.

Municipal roads are the responsibility of each rural municipality, who set out their own weight limits.
