UPDATE – RCMP say the highway has been re-opened, no other details were provided.

Swift Current RCMP say the westbound lanes of Highway 1 remain closed early Thursday morning after a collision involving two semis Wednesday night.

In a news release sent out around 11:30 p.m., police say motorists are asked to avoid the area and seek alternate routes if possible.

Heavy fog was present at the time of the crash.

There is no word on injuries or when the portion of highway will re-open.

Tompkins is about 80 kilometers west of Swift Current.
