Two players at Canada’s World Junior Hockey selection camp have tested positive for COVID-19.
This has led to the postponement of the third Red and White intrasquad game that was scheduled for Tuesday.
The two players have been quarantined at the team’s hotel in Red Deer, Alberta. All camp activities scheduled for Tuesday have been cancelled.
Coaches, players and team staff have been tested regularly while at camp for the last 10 days. Hockey Canada says in a news release team personnel will go through additional rounds of testing in order to resume camp activities.
The first round of cuts were expected to be announced Tuesday. There’s no word on when those cuts will be coming. Head coach Andre Tourigny has previously said he wants the roster cut down to 30-34 players after this scheduled Red and White scrimmage.
Team Canada is expected to begin a series of six scrimmages against U Sports teams on Saturday with a game against the University of Alberta Golden Bears.
