Ontario man arrested after cannabis discovered during traffic stop on Highway #1

On Wednesday, November 25, 2020, shortly before 9:30 p.m., White Butte RCMP were contacted by the Saskatchewan Highway Patrol (SHP) after they stopped a semi-truck for a commercial vehicle inspection on Highway 1 east between Pense and Grand Coulee, SK.

During the inspection, approximately 223 lbs of cannabis was discovered in the trailer of the commercial vehicle. The driver was arrested by the Saskatchewan Highway Patrol and White Butte RCMP.

As a result of this investigation, 51-year old Cesk Kalaj of Milton, Ontario, was charged with one count of Possessing Cannabis for the Purpose of Distributing under the Cannabis Act and one count of Possessing Unstamped Cannabis under the Excise Act.

Cesk Kalaj appeared in Regina Provincial Court on November 26, 2020, and was released with conditions and is scheduled to make his next court appearance on February 17, 2021.
