The highways ministry says winter weight season started Friday for a number of secondary highways in Saskatchewan.
Highways minister Joe Hargrave says winter weights allow trucks to carry more cargo in Saskatchewan with frozen roads.
Winter weights are put in place each year from about mid-November to mid-March.
Typically, winter weights allow truckers to carry up to 15 to 20 percent more payload on secondary highways.
Truckers are encouraged to check with highways about the latest restrictions.
