Three grain companies placed in receivership, says Canadian Grain Commission

The Canadian Grain Commission says three related grain companies have been placed into receivership.

Grain Commission Communications Manager Remi Gosselin says a receiver has been appointed for CanPulse Foods, Global Grain Canada and the parent company Globeways Canada.

CanPulse operates a facility in Kindersley and Gosselin says the agency has insurance to cover unpaid farmer deliveries up to $6.5-million for CanPulse Foods.

“We have started our claims process to determine liabilities, and to determine if adequate security levels are in place to cover outstanding liabilities to producers,” said Gosselin.

Gosselin says Monday is the deadline for farmers to make claim for unpaid grain deliveries from the three related companies.

He encourages all farmers to obtain immediate payment upon grain delivery and cash their cheques promptly.
