Regina retirement home asking for letters to help residents at Christmas

A letter campaign that is underway at a Regina retirement home  is doing exactly what those who work at the home wanted.

College Park Residence went to Facebook asking people to write a letter to its residents saying they are thinking of them at this time of year. Many won’t be leaving the home this year because of COVID-19 and with no visitation, it means they will be celebrating with their fellow residents and not families.

Lifestyle director Keith Spanier says they don’t want texts or e-mails, but the traditional letter.

“Our residents in their late 70’s,80’s and upwards and that is what they lived off.  They are used to the mail system so the traditional letter is what we are asking for.” Spanier said.

Many letters have been received already. Spanier says seeing the faces of those who get them light up when they read the letter makes the campaign more than worthwhile.

Those wishing to write a letter can do so with the address being College Park Retirement Residence, 1535 Anson Road, Regina SK with the postal code being S4P 0C2.
