Saskatchewan’s Crown Corporations giving back this holiday season

Both SaskTel and SGI are in the giving mood this month.

SaskTel spokesperson Lindsay Mazenc explains what they’re doing.

“We announced that we’ll be providing unlimited wireless data to our customers from Dec. 17 to Jan. 11,” Mazenc said. “This is for our business and consumer customers on our post-paid data wireless plans, our no strings prepaid wireless plans, and our fusion internet plans.”

Mazenc says the move was made in response to the pandemic moving people to virtual and on-line communication, rather than in-person.

Meanwhile, SGI turns 75 this year, and as part of their celebration, they’re giving back to the five provinces they’re represented in, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Alberta, BC and Ontario.

Spokesman Tyler McMurchy says they’re entering a national sponsorship with the Red Cross.

“This $125,000 sponsorship consists of five $25,000 gifts to the provincial branches of the Canadian Red Cross in those provinces.”

He says the funding will go toward the Red Cross disaster relief effort.
