The 32nd edition of the annual MS Musical Christmas Card is in the books, and despite the pandemic, it was a success.
Manager of Development for the MS Society of Canada Saskatchewan Peter Kampe says he’s thrilled about this year’s event.
“I think it went very well, even though with Covid, and everything just seems to be running a little bit slower,” said Kampe. “I’m very ecstatic about the money that we’ve been able to bring in and help those people with MS.”
Kampe says in addition to everyone’s generosity, the Musical Christmas Card is great for several reasons.
“I think it comes down to a lot of things, number one is we want to get the word out there that MS is a big thing in Saskatchewan with 3,700+ people affected by it,” said Kampe. “We want to get the money in there so we’re able to fund our research, our programs to help the MS community,
Before heading into this year, the annual event has raised over $445,000 dollars to go towards people living with MS.
Kampe says a huge part of the event’s success is the people who are faithful to the cause donating from the heart every year.
“To have those people that are very loyal to the Musical Christmas Card, and they write us a cheque or send us their information to make a donation, we’ve had some new people out there,” said Kampe. “It’s very good that we’re able to build on to what we do, and then if we tell more people, we’re able to help more people.”
While the numbers from this year haven’t been calculated yet, Kampe is sure it will be another outstanding total.
