Nick Marshall returning to Riders

Scratch Nick Marshall’s name off the list of potential Rider free agents.

The green-and-white have signed the defensive back to a one-year contract extension.

This will be the third year in Rider colours for Marshall who has become one of the league’s best defensive backs.  In 2019, he had five interceptions, a fumble recovery and a touchdown to go along with 39 tackles.

Before coming to the CFL, Marshall was the quarterback at Auburn University where he led the Tigers to the 2014 National Championship game where they lost to Florida State.

The Riders also announced that Canadian DL Chantel Dabire and LB Nakas Onyeka have also signed one-year contract extensions.

Dabire was the team’s 5th round pick in the 2019 CFL draft. He had  a strong rookie season playing in 11 games and making six defensive tackles, one special teams tackle and a sack.

Onyeka had signed with the Riders as a free agent for the 2020 season after playing three seasons in Toronto.
